Learn more about our current projects as well as get to know more about our passionate team.

California Greenworks’ mission is to improve the quality of life in urban communities, where we advocate for environmental justice, implement community-based and education-based programs and promote green space and economic development in underserved communities. Our projects include: urban forestry; green space planning and development to include community-based restoration and neighborhood revitalization projects that eliminate urban blight; environmental education for K-12; green job awareness and advocacy; and environmental justice advocacy.

Our projects include: urban forestry; green space planning and development to include community-based restoration and neighborhood revitalization projects that eliminate urban blight; environmental education for K-12; green job awareness and advocacy; and environmental justice advocacy.

  • Our current urban forestry goals include identifying additional neighborhoods where the most in need reside, and working with local leaders to approve tree planting.
  • Current education program work includes developing and promoting participation in educational programs for both an Ocean Explorers course and workshop, and Green Jobs training series.
  • Current green space efforts include to fund a major green development of the Blackwelder Tract / Ballona Creek area, which reverses local key environmental issues, including water supply, stormwater and urban runoff, aquatic biodiversity, and loss of habitat that affect these areas.
  • We promote overall climate justice advocacy through ongoing awareness programs such as our Climate Equity series, and have 2 events being planned for fall 2023. One program will be hosted with Watts High School, a school plagued by environmental injustice. For example, students at this school cannot drink the building water because it is contaminated by nearby metal plants.

All of this happens because of a team of individuals passionate about our mission. Here, we’d like to introduce you to each of those team members and provide a bit more of their stories.
